An Orwellian drama touching on the philsophical side of human existence, FADE presents a less traditional approach to science fiction. Chloe is an emotionless and obedient worker simply accepting her existence at face value. By happenstance, she encounters Anna, who inspires Chloe's exploration and eventual transcendence.
Lifting primarily from the cultural theory of Louis Althusser, this is an examination and provocation of meaning, of cultural human construction. Gentle in its tone, minimalist in its structure, but powerful in its message.
Shot in 2006, premiering in 2008, and receiving a DVD release in 2009, FADE was a little shoestring budget
feature that is still slowly making its way towards the sunlight.
Because of its heavy use of existential philosophy, it has appeared in graduate philosophy courses at the Universities of Minnesota, Boston, and Istanbul (though only as additions to a semester's curriculum).
